It has been a LONG time since I updated my gold versus everything charts or graphs. It is a lot of work. I really love looking at them, though, so I am ready to resurrect it — with your help.
Instead of using my own Excel spreadsheet to keep track of information, I created a Google Docs Spreadsheet that everyone can browse, copy from, and utilize. I am asking for your help to provide information for this chart. If you’re ready to help, I will add you as an editor to the spreadsheet, which is 100% online.
What do you need to do? Here are the tasks I need help with:
1. Updating historical information on any of the commodity prices.
2. Updating weekly any single item (or more) based on the actual price you’d pay, including any taxes.
3. Helping produce graphs that are useful.
If you’d like to help with any of these items, please drop me an e-mail or post a comment. I’m looking for no more than 10 minutes a week, and if you hit the grocery store once a week, it is a simple task.
You can view this data a this link: Gold versus Goods. Please feel free to be a part of this experiment.
Reasons why I picked Google Docs Spreadsheet for this experiment:
1. Anyone can become a contributor.
2. Most sites have their historical data published as an image, impossible to copy and paste.
3. You can publish real-time charts like this:
4. Anyone can download the data and save it.
